What Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility means to me

When I speak about inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA), I’m speaking about the inclusion of all forms of diversity. There is no exclusion from that tent. And that includes straight white able-bodied men… provided they’re interested in creating a more equitable society, where everyone has opportunity, and not somehow taking on the role of victim.

I value and embrace difference in every way, shape and form, and that includes difference of opinion. You don’t have to agree with me, and in fact I know there will be people that don’t agree with me, even when we’re supposed to be on the same “side”. And that’s ok. I’m always up for a good discussion or debate, provided it remains respectful.

I long for a world where my work doesn’t need to exist; where we can all be ourselves and not be judged or live in fear because of our identity. Until then, I will keep working.

I use social media (including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, Twitter, and YouTube) as a vehicle to communicate with people who have an interest in my work. That communication may be sharing information such as articles and videos; it may be sharing my opinion; it may be just a comment or a funny post.

My opinions are my own and do not reflect those of the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion or its affiliates, nor any of CCDI’s Employer Partners or Clients. I am not liable or responsible for any posts made by others.

The purpose of my social media channels is for the free exchange of ideas and commentary regarding issues of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility. By responding, tagging or posting on any of my channels, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

  • You will not violate another’s copyright or intellectual property.

  • You will not post any proprietary, confidential, sensitive or non-public information.

  • You will not post links to any kind of virus, spyware or malware.

  • You will stay on topic and not post information that is SPAM or marketing material.

  • You will not post anything that is fraudulent, inaccurate, libelous, or misleading.

  • You will not post anything that is disparaging in nature or includes offensive, inflammatory or inappropriate commentary or content.

  • You will not post anything that is defamatory, abusive, discriminatory or demeaning

  • You will not post anything that contains threats or suggests violence or illegal behaviour.

  • You will not post anything that contains personal information such as email addresses, phone numbers, account numbers or any confidential information.

  • You will always be respectful in your posts and interactions.

I reserve the right to moderate content on my social media channels. Any violation of these terms and conditions may result in the removal of your post or blocking you from my channels.

We can disagree – but we will do it respectfully.
